imageAir conditioning is fast becoming a necessity, particularly in the warmer regions of the world i.e. Pakistan, and the situation is becoming much worse with the rise of global warming, meaning weather is turning much hotter.

The Air Conditions (AC’s) however, are prone to frequent repairing which is costly and not in the budget of most, fortunately there are some tricks one can do to increase the AC efficiency and last it for much longer period.

Replace and clean AC filters on regular basis

According to Climaskinz, one should change the AC filters on a regular monthly basis, they cost little as compare to the whole repairing if not done so. This activity ensures that dust and debris from your home are filtered out of the AC unit.

One should also clean the delicate aluminium blades on regular basis as well.

Manage AC temperatures

Firstly keep the AC unit set at a manageable level, don’t set the thermostat down low when you turn the unit, neither make constant adjustments, as per SFGate.

The constant changing in temperatures leads to more energy consumed by fans. Therefore, when temperature rises, set your AC unit to the warmest but comfortable temperature possible.

It should also be noted that keeping your thermostat set at 78F conserve energy and reduce electric bills.

Shade the outdoor unit

Create some shade for your outdoor unit, as keeping it out from the direct sunlight will help it in the long run.

Give rest to your AC’s

Like all other electronic, it is important to give AC adequate amount of rest, particularly when not in use. As per reports, turn it off, or set it at a high temperature i.e. 85 degrees Fahrenheit, so that the house doesn’t get so hot to take hours to cool down.

Open windows and other source of ventilation when temperatures are cool outside.
