Sindh Assembly on Friday passed a resolution with majority vote extending felicitations to Shaukat Aziz on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Law Minister Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain tabled the resolution. The opposition voted against the resolution but the treasury benches could pass it with majority votes.
The Assembly also unanimously passed another resolution condemning the damage caused to sacred places in Najaf, Iraq including Rauza-e-Hazrat Ali and other holy places in Iraq.
Through the resolution the Assembly recommended to Sindh Government to take up the matter with the federal government for playing its role so that the allied forces should ensure that no damage was caused to the holy places and no innocent Muslims were killed in Iraq.
Earlier, the members belonging to MMA staged a walk out when Deputy Speaker Rahila Tiwana replaced Muhammad Hussain, a member of the Panel of Chairmen in the absence of Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah.
Opposition's Nisar Khuhro said that they be allowed to move a joint resolution, but Muhammad Hussain said that as per rules no government resolution could be moved with amendment.
Later, proceeding of the session was adjourned to meet on Monday at 9:30 am.
