Soft red winter (SRW) wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade rallied early on Wednesday amid worries about weather and commodity fund buying, traders said.
At 10:09 am CDT (1509 GMT), CBOT wheat was up 3-1/2 to 4-1/4 cents per bushel, with September up 4-1/4 at $3.14. December was up 4-3/4 at $3.27-1/2. Man Financial bought 1,000 December, Rand Financial bought 400 December and FIMAT Futures was a net buyer, pit sources said.
Wheat traders said the market was boosted by concerns some of the spring wheat crop in Canada and in the northern United States may be harmed by cool and damp weather.
