imageMicrosoft, the world largest software maker has been found guilty for forcefully installing Windows 10 update on a woman PC, without her approval. The company has to pay $10,000 in compensation over the forced update.

Teri Goldstein, a resident from California USA sued the company for trying to automatically installing Windows 10 on her PC, which began to work improperly leading to loss of files, she claimed. The Irish Examiner, the Windows has been aggressively seeking to make users update to Windows 10, which is still being offered as a free upgrade for those running the older Windows 7, 8 versions.

There have been reports of users working on older versions of Windows facing issues with downloading the software, i.e. cases of crippling computers or interruption in tasks, is being widely circulated at the social media.

Therefore, Goldstein sued the technology giant, and is seeking compensation for lost wages and the cost of a new computer. Microsoft has settled the case to avoid the high legal costs.

Goldstein who runs a travel agency sued Microsoft for forcibly installing the update even though she didn't authorise it, The Seattle reported.

"I had never heard of Windows 10. Nobody ever asked me if I wanted to update," Goldstein told . Microsoft on the other hand decided not to levy litigation expense, and just drop its appeal.
