imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting to review the steps for the development of livestock and dairy farming.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that livestock and dairy farming was of paramount importance in strengthening the economy, adding that poverty and unemployment problems could be overcome by the uplift of livestock sector.

Majority of population of Punjab was associated with livestock sector and the goal of self-sufficiency could be achieved with the promotion of this sector, he added.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government was paying full attention to the development of livestock and dairy farming.

He said that a comprehensive roadmap was being implemented for the improvement of livestock and dairy farming, adding that "we have to move ahead speedily by implementing comprehensive roadmap evolved for the development of these sectors".

Shehbaz said that targets fixed for livestock sector would be achieved at every cost and for this purpose, the concerned institutions would have to work hard in a coordinated manner.

He said that there was a great potential in livestock sector of the province and there was a need to fully benefit from it. He appreciated Secretary Livestock for his steps for the promotion of livestock sector.

Giving briefing regarding the steps taken for the promotion of livestock and dairy farming, Secretary Livestock told that available resources have been utilized for the capacity building of the department.

Provincial Ministers, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Khalil Tahir Sandhu, Dr. Farrukh Javed, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary and concerned secretaries attended the meeting.
