The Rawalpindi Tehsil Council passed Rs 702.074 million surplus budget 2004-05 in which Rs 84.980 million is being earmarked for the annual development programme.
Naib Nazim Sajjad Khan presented the budget in the camp office of the district Nazim.
Giving break up of the TMA income in different taxes and revenue collection, he said the administration has earned Rs 100 million from building commercialisation fees; Rs 70 million from transfer of property; property (Rs 66.8 million); sanitation (Rs 6.5 million); wagon stands (Rs 4.8 million); general bus stand (Rs 8 million); car parking (Rs 3 million); Suzuki stand (Rs 3.5 million); cattle market (Rs 6 million); latrine (Rs 7.350 million); slaughter house (Rs 4.8 million); board tax (Rs 17.5 million); and park entry (Rs 2.2 million).
Giving details of the allocations of funds, he said expenditures including salaries have been given Rs 245.059 million while Rs 108.159 million were allocated for miscellaneous expenditures.
He said the TMA will pay Rs 84.264 million to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board as a share of 40 percent in Octroi and Rs 48 million under UCG for repairing and expansion in water supply scheme.
Rs 5 million has been allocated as development grant for minority and farmer councillors; Rs 0.8 million as development grant for women councillors; Rs 5.2 million for women development projects; and Rs 2.288 million for filtration plant.
For citizen community board Rs 23.7 million were allocated as special grant. For renovation of the office of Tehsil Nazim, Rs 0.725 million were allocated.
While addressing the budget session, Tehsil Nazim Hamid Nawaz Raja said that no new taxes were imposed on the people, while 50 percent of the budget will be spent on the development projects in the area.
He said that Rs 90 million were allocated for the citizen community board, which will be spent in three years. He said after election of the board next year, this amount will be spent on welfare projects.
He said that allocations were made for the minority and farmer councillors in order to give them proper share in the development process.
He assured the people that TMA will use all its efforts to provide better facilities and speed up the development work in the area.
