Banks start receiving Haj applications

The designated branches of banks on Monday started receiving applications, from intending pilgrims under the government scheme across the company.
Under the government scheme, designated branches of five banks including Habib Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan, Muslim Commercial Bank and Allied Bank have been authorised to receive Haj applications.
The last date for the receipt of applications under this scheme is July 26, official sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs said here.
Under the private scheme, Haj applications and dues would not be deposited in banks.
These applications and dues would be deposited at the Haji camps by Haj organisers from June 30 to July 20.
Dues of entire group would be deposited along with one bank draft. Under the new Haj policy announced for next five years, about 150,000 people would perform the next Haj from Pakistan.
If the number of applicants increases from 150,000, there would be a ballot.
Under the government scheme, all arrangements including Haj passport, visa, flights, accommodation, transport and tents would be made by the government.
While Haj Service Agents and Haj Group Organisers registered with the ministry would be responsible for all the arrangements under private scheme.
The ministry however, would prepare passports for private scheme as performance of Haj on international passports is not allowed.
