Chief minister Punjab, Chaudhry Parvaiz Ellahi has accorded approval for expansion in Anti-Corruption Department and provision of required facilities and resources with a view to strengthening it for enabling it to effectively curb the corruption from the government departments.
Under this, two more officers, ie a Deputy Director and an Assistant Director, would be appointed at district level in addition to the existing circle officers besides providing lock-up and vehicles at the district level.
This was stated by Director Anti-Corruption Punjab, Brigadier Muhammad Aslam Ghumman (Retd), while listening to the complaints of the people in an open katchery at local Circuit House.
Additional Director Chaudhry Kabeer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Directors Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Aslam Niazi, Assistant Directors Akhtar Hussain Alvi, Kanwar Khalid Mahmood, Liaqat Ali Chatha, Chaudhry Ghulam Murtaza, other officers and representative officers of various government departments & traders leaders Hafiz Tahir Jameel & other notables were also present on this occasion.
Director Anti-Corruption said that for making the department active and effective a time frame approach had been adopted under which the inquiry of a complaint would be completed within two months while a period for one month had been fixed for carrying out the investigation after the registration of case so that the aggrieved applicants could be able to get the justice in least possible time.
He said that in the process of the purification of the department, the corrupt officers and the ones not enjoying good reputation were being sent back to their parent departments.
The doors of the anti-corruption department for such officers had been closed forever and a planning was being made for permanent posting of cadre-service officers here, he added.
He further said that chief minister Punjab had provided an amount of Rs One million for giving cash awards to the fair, upright and honest officers of A.C.E. Punjab for their excellent performance, while the special allowance of the employees of the department had been doubled now making it 40 percent.
He reaffirmed his commitment that the campaign launched against the corruption would be crowned with success and urged the people to extend co-operation to the department.
He said before giving bribe for getting any genuine official work done, they should get a raid conducted against the corrupt officials, as he was not required to seek for any sort of permission for conducting raid against grade 21 officers.
Taking serious notice on some of the complaints, be announced that in future no enquiry would be conducted against the corrupt police officials by the police officer who was on deputation in anti corruption department.
He said that complaint centres were being set up for the people to provide them with an easy access against the corrupt officials. In these complaint centres they would be able to submit applications over fax for prompt & swift action against the corrupt officials.
The Director ACE listened to the complaints against police, revenue, excise, irrigation, education, forest, health and other departments and directed the concerned officers to submit their report from 15 to 30 days. Chaudhry Khursheed Hussain, Naseer Ahmad, Mukhtar Ahmed and a number of others submitted their complaints in the open katchery.
