Pakistan Muslim League has appreciated the welfare-oriented federal budget, which has also provided a package of incentives for the farmers to improve the agriculture and economic sector of the country.
Commenting on the budget announced by Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Aziz the PML leaders said it is the best possible budget in the present circumstances and it would bring revolutionary changes in the life of the people particularly government servants, farmers and common man.
President Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain commenting on the budget said that for the first time a huge package of incentives has been announced by any government for the improvement of agriculture sector.
Shujaat said the federal budget has a number of relief measures for the people from different segments of the society and hoped that it would improve the life standard of the masses.
The PML president said the budget has been prepared in accordance with the proposals and suggestions given by the PML leaders and added that it would pave the way to improve agriculture, industrial and housing sector in the country.
Federal minister Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind explaining the salient features of the budget said, it was first time in the history of the country that landmark package of incentives for farming community has been announced in the budget.
The minister said maximum benefit would be provided to small farmers who own 12.5 acres of land and are 80 percent of the farming community.
He specially mentioned the project of lining of 87,000 water courses across the country in next four years at a cost of Rs 66 billion. He said the federal government would provide Rs 55 billion for this project while remaining amount would be shared by the provinces. More than 74,000-km long water courses would be improved under this programme, he added.
The minister said the reduction in mark up rate for agriculture loans to 9 percent would be helpful to the farmers to improve their crop.
Sardar Rind said withdrawal of powers to arrest defaulters in agriculture sector by the Zarai Tarqiati Bank would also provide relief to the farmers.
He said the leasing of tractor for the farmers like car leasing would also play major role to enhance agriculture out put.
Secretary general Pakistan Muslim League senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed appreciating the budget said it is poor friendly budget and it would provide a relief to the common man and farmers.
He said the special feature of the budget is agriculture package and 15 percent dearnes' allowance for the government employees
Mushahid said the measures announced in the budget would also improve industrialisation, provide a boost to housing industry and improve agriculture production.
He said the package announced for the farmers would provide a strong base for the economic progress of the country besides providing/jobs both in rural as well as in the urban areas.
