Petroleum Minister, Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor said on Saturday the World Energy Forum greatly acknowledged Pakistan's proposal to Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) to accommodate views of oil and gas consumers in the decision making.
Talking to newsmen on his arrival at the airport from Amsterdam, Netherlands after attending the 9th Energy Forum, he said, it could save the global energy market from untoward price shocks.
The forum was participated by 69 countries and 13 organisations.
The minister underlined a more meaningful change of views between the producers and the consumers of oil and gas in the decision making as one sided decision were creating volatility in the international oil market resultantly effecting oil economies with high price shocks.
He emphasised the necessity of a two-way exchange of views on single platform.
He said if it was not possible, then an organisation representing oil and gas consumers should be there for an equal level communication with the Opec.
Nouraiz Shakoor also briefed about the meetings with his Qatari, Turkish and Saudi Arabian counterpart on the sidelines of the forum.
"I discussed investment opportunities in Pakistan's oil and gas sector and offered them to take benefit from the incentives being offered by the government in this sector," he added.
There are vast opportunities for the investors particularly in upgradation of refineries, setting up of coastal refinery, regional pipelines, development of gas infrastructure and privatisation, he said and added, "I offered them to take part in these activities."
The minister also held meetings with other energy ministers of the participating countries and chief executives of various petroleum companies at the forum.
