Commodity wholesale markets lost pace whatever it had in recent weeks owing to sporadic bloody violence in the city prior to and during the week ended on May 15, 2004.
The long faced traders expressed disappointment over the untoward and unforeseen incidents hovering over Karachi.
The commodities underwent changes were plastic mouldings, beetle chana I beetle chana 50x50, gram new, juwar, guwar, masoor, beetle dal, bajra and til Sindh.
THE PLASTIC MOULDINGS: fluctuated both ways: HDPE film Saudia 952 quoted at Rs 35.25, Mobil up 50 paisa to Rs 35.75, TR144 up seven paisa to Rs 35, HDPE injection Sabic 200056 up 50 paisa to Rs 35.50, Mobil 016 up same amount to Rs 35.50, Thai up 38 paisa to Rs 35.
HDPE blow Kuwait up 38 paisa to Rs 35.25, Marlex up 75 paisa to Rs 35, Iran up 50 paisa to Rs 34.75, polypropylene film Thai up 88 paisa to Rs 36, Kuwait over up Re 1 to Rs 36.
India same amount to Rs 36, PP tape grade India up 50 paisa to Rs 35, Kuwait up 50 paisa to Rs 35, polypropylene injection grade Saudia up 25 paisa to Rs 35.25, India up 75 paisa to Rs 35.75.
Copoly Block up 50 paisa to Rs 36.50, and Randon quoted at Rs 39.
KIRANA ITEMS: Black pepper from Vietnam up Rs 75 to Rs 4200, mace down Rs 400 to Rs 16,400 nutmeg down Rs 80, to Rs 8200, big cardamom up Rs 300 to Rs 9900, cloves down Rs 100 to Rs 8600, dry ginger from China up Rs 500 to Rs 5700, long pepper up Rs 100 to Rs 3800, poppyseed up Rs 100 to Rs 960, Sago up Rs 75 to Rs 1175, and cuminseed down Rs 100 to Rs 2800.
MILK POWDER: skimmed from Germany up Rs 100 to Rs 3800, Nurpur up Rs 400 to Rs 4600, Poland up Rs 150 to Rs 2050 and Halla SMP down Rs 150 to Rs 3600.
Beetle chana I inferior lost Rs 40 but later gained Rs 5 to Rs 1825 and better type was last quoted Rs 5 up at Rs 1865, beetle chana 50x50 fluctuated twice showing early gains but later weakened to be quoted at Rs 1725 and Rs 1765, gram new inferior lost Rs 10 to Rs 1700, and better lost same amount to Rs 1740, guwar all stations inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 1315, and better shed Rs 30 to Rs 1330, juwar was up Rs 10 to Rs 940 and better was quoted at Rs 960, til Sindh fluctuated thrice to be last quoted at Rs 1900, and better at Rs 2150.
Masoor gained Rs 100 to Rs 3000 and better up same amount to Rs 3100, rapeseed cakes inferior lost Rs 5 to Rs 270 and better shed Rs 8 to Rs 272, yellow peas shed Rs 15 to Rs 1600, and better quoted at Rs 1615, beetle dal inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 2025 and better lost Rs 35 to Rs 2065, gram dal shed Rs 25 to Rs 1900 and better shed Rs 25 to Rs 1940 and bajra quoted higher at Rs 1250 and Rs 1300.
