The government has established 'Bureau for Child Protection and Welfare Fund' for effective implementation of the rehabilitation and training programme for beggars and disabled children.
This was said by the Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, while addressing a meeting held here on Wednesday for preparing a strategy for rehabilitation of such children.
The CM said "rehabilitation, training and protection of rights of the deprived children is our moral obligation and we will fulfil it with full sense of responsibility."
He further said that that the government was committed to eliminate child labour and the elements, which forced children for begging, would be dealt with strictly.
The government, he added, would utilise all available resources for rehabilitation of such children and make them responsible citizens of the country.
He further said that the government would also adopt an effective strategy, to resolve the economic problems of the deprived and disabled children.
Advisor to CM for children rights, Dr Faiza Asghar gave a briefing to the CM about the rehabilitation programme.
The meeting was also attended by the Provincial Law Minister Mohammad Basharat Raja, Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Bushra Nawaz Gardezi, Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, IG Police Saad Ullah Khan and high officials of the concerned departments.
