The Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the Home Department to explain as to why the government has allowed district Nazim Lahore to issue NOC for holding fairs in the city in violation of the Local Government Ordinance.
The court also issued notice to the Ravi Town Nazim to appear before the court on April 29 to explain why he has allowed the petitioner to hold amusement theatre in the city subject to NOC from the District Nazim.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Ch Muhammad Javed who approached the court against the police officials for disturbing him.
The petitioner contended that he had obtained permission from the Town Nazim and the director, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) for holding amusement theatre at Minar-e-Pakistan on the eve of Urs of Hazrat Data Gunj Buksh.
He said the respondent police officials were harassing and threatening him at the behest of the respondent, the chief executive, Lucky Irani Circus.
The SP City appeared before the court and contended that under the Local Government Ordinance no such theatres could be organised in the city. Accordingly, the court passed necessary orders.
