Gold Art Promotion Council Pakistan (GPCP) President, Muhammad Ahmad has called for bringing necessary amendments in the export policy for gem and jewellery.
According to a press release issued by the council here on Monday, Muhammad Ahmad was addressing the first meeting of the export group constituted by the council.
He urged the Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan and Chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Tariq Ikram to constitute a National Gem & Jewellery Advisory Committee (NGJAC).
He said that India due to its open policies in Gem and Jewellery sector had captured 40 to 60 percent export of this sector while Pakistan's policies were discouraging the exporters.
Haji Mushtaq Ahmad, Tariq Mahmood, Dilawar Ali, Masood Ali Mahmood, Saleem Aftab and others also addressed the meeting.
