The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) has signed a Memorandum of Understating (MoU) with Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in order to enhance technical skills of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by conducting joint training courses at the Institutions working under Tevta.
According to a Smeda spokesman, Shahab Khawaja, Chief Executive Officer of Smeda and Sikandar M. Khan, Chairman Tevta signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at a signing ceremony held here on Friday.
As per the terms mutually agreed in the MoU, Smeda or Tevta may identify both training needs of SMEs. In either case the information will be shared by both the organisations.
Smeda & Tevta will co-ordinate with the Chambers of Commerce & Industry and local trade associations for training needs identification.
The curriculum including training programme, trainee and instructor manuals will be prepared and finalised by Tevta in consultation with Smeda as per need identified by the industry.
The duration and timing of each training course will be mutually agreed and finalised between Smeda and Tevta, keeping in view the training need identification by the industry.
Being the working partners, Smeda can use the venue of any Tevta Institution for it's industrial programmes and training purposes etc, subject to mutually agreed terms.
Smeda will help Tevta in capacity building including preparing modules and Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Entrepreneur-ship Development.
Both Smeda and Tevta will explore the possibilities of establishing incubators for the students graduating from Tevta.
Based upon industry need, both the organisations will explore possibilities for establishing Common Facility Centers (CFCs) for the benefits of SMEs at Tevta Institutions.
The joint activities in this regard will include identification of needs, location, fund raising and the management of the CFCs.
