One Zulfikar Ali, owner of a private educational institute, poured the acid into the mouth of his wife, Shazia (38), to conceal his crime, and later he got registered a case of suicide attempt against her in collaboration with the police here.
The victim's sister, Nazia told newsmen on Monday that her sister, Shazia, a divorcee, married to Zulfikar Ali five years ago, adding after three years of the marriage, he took another woman, Gulnaz, in the house and he claimed that she is his first wife.
On April 1, Shazia awakened after listening the cries of her 12-year-old daughter from her previous husband.
Her daughter said Zulfikar had attempted to kill her. When she rebuffed him on this act. He and Gulnaz overpowered her and they put the acid in her mouth, resultantly, Shazia is unable to speak. They made off good escape, leaving her in a private clinic.
Later, Shazia's relatives shifted her to the Allied Hospital. To escape from punishment, he got registered a case of suicidal attempt against his wife, Shazia, who is still in a precarious condition.
Nazia alleged that Zulfikar Ali was threatening her family for dire consequences in case of pursuing this case, and he made an attempt to kidnap her daughters.
She appealed to the Punjab chief minister to order an impartial inquiry and free medical aid for Shazia to save her life for the future of her children from previous husband.
