To mark its 40th anniversary the Management Association of Pakistan (MAP) is to hold a Management Convention-2004 from April 19 to 21 which is expected to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the President of MAP, said that Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural session of the convention being held on the eve of improved macro-economic condition and business environment of the country.
He said that the Management Excellence awards to the companies with outstanding performance would also be given at the inaugural session.
The MAP instituted the awards to encourage local companies to adopt best management practices.
A broad spectrum of subjects will be discussed at the convention. These include WTO and Globalisation, leveraging human resource capital for organisational development, multi-nationals corporations in the 21st century, best management practices of local companies in Asia, South Asia and Gulf countries, corporate governance and ethics. How supply chain management can change the fortune of a business or should public sector enterprises be privatised or be given the professional management with an independent board are other topics to be debated at the convention.
A galaxy of local and foreign experts would be speaking at the Convention. These include Dr Talat Abdel Malek, American University of Cairo; Professor Jean Pierre Lehmann, IMD institute for Management Development, Geneva; Dr Naseem Ashraf, National Commission for Human Development; Sylvain Daudel, Director INSEAD, Singapore; Yousuf Shirazi, CEO Atlas Honda; Professor Tarek A. Hatem, Professor of Strategic Management and International Business Management Department, American University in Cairo; Dr Attahir Yousuf, Professor Sharjah College of Business Management; Syed Masood Ali Naqvi, Jeremy Pike, Chairman Pakistan Tobacco; Martin Jarvis, Head of Unilever Supply Chain Academy; Tariq Kirmani of PSO, Ihsanul Haq, Dean LUMPS and Major General D. N. Khurana, President All India Management Association.
Also present at the Press conference was Jalees Ahmed Siddiqui of PSO, which is the main sponsor of the convention.
