ISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation for the week ended on June, 9 for the combined income group witnessed increase of 0.8 per cent as compared to the previous week.
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 217.1 points against 215.37 points registered in the previous week, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 1.14 per cent.
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 increased by 0.84 per cent as it went up from 205.53 points in the previous week to 207.26 points in the week under review.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 12,000, Rs 12,001 18,000 and 18,001 35,000 increased by 0.71 per cent, 0.83 per cent, 0.81 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 6 items registered decrease, while that of 18 items increase with the remaining 29 items' prices unchanged.
The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included garlic, chicken farm (live), pulse moong, pulse mash, vegetable ghee and LPG cylinder.
The items which recorded increase in their average prices included tomatoes, potatoes, bananas, eggs (farm), onion, cigarettes, pulse gram, sugar, gur, beef, cooked beef, powdered milk, firewood whole, wheat flour, long cloth, mutton, wheat and pulse masoor.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included rice basmati (broken), rice (irri-6), bread (plain), milk fresh, curd, mustard oil, cooking oil, vegetable ghee, salt powder (loose), red chilly powder, tea, cooked pulses, tea prepared, shirting, lawn printed, georgette, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, Hi Speed Diesel, telephone local call charges and bathing soap.
