National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) will open two more branches in Afghanistan in next three to four months to support the growing trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
This was stated by NBP President Syed Ali Reza at the inauguration of a modernised and computerised branch at the PNSC building here on Saturday.
The Chairman, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), Vice Admiral Tauqir H Naqvi (retd) was also present on the occasion.
Reza said that permission to open these branches has been acquired and these will be opened at Jalalabad and Kandhar to finance bilateral trade activities in these two cities.
The NBP already had a branch at Kabul, he added.
He pointed out that the NBP would modernise and computerise about 500 branches this year and all 1,150 branches in next two and a half-year.
"This branch wears an international look and comply with world standards. You can compare it with any bank's branch in the world," Reza said referring to newly inaugurated PNSC branch.
He said that all the modernised and computerised branches would have a uniform look and offer best services to the NBP customers.
He said that 180 branches of NBP would be on-line by end of this year providing real on-line banking to cater to almost 90 percent of total bank's business.
To a question about financial results, he said that these would be finalised by middle of March.
