Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) and Directorate of Environment and Enforcement Directorate of CDA have jointly launched a massive crackdown against the encroachers and razed to ground restaurants and several huts near the Rawal Lake.
According to details, DMA and Enforcement Directorate, on the strict directives of chairman CDA, demolished at least 15 huts and restaurants, which were illegally built on the bank of the Rawal Lake, deputy director DMA Captain Faiz told Business Recorder on Saturday.
They had also constructed several illegal kiosks and shops near Malpur village (Rawal Lake), occupying the CDA land for the last five years, he said.
Captain Faiz revealed to this correspondent that the DMA took such decision after vacating the stay order from the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench.
The belongings and other items placed in these restaurants were confiscated, he said, adding they have been violating the CDA's Municipal Building by-laws since several years on stay order from the LHC.
