Governor Punjab, Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has said that the government was carrying on its reforms in the government departments for providing the benefits of the development and the modern technology to general public.
For this purpose all the resources were being utilised to make the concerned departments play their effective role so that the people could have access to quality facilities without any difficulty.
He said this during his visit to the offices of Wapda, ZTBL, PTCL, Post Office and Nadra in Jaranwala City and inaugurating the Sui gas supply project at Kaleem Shaheed Colony, Faisalabad, here on Saturday.
MPA Ghulam Haider Bari, District Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazir, District Naib Nazim Chaudhry Raza Nasrullah Ghumman and Tehsil Nazim Jaranwala Major Abdul Rehman Rana (Retd) also accompanied the Governor.
Inquiring about the performance and complaints about these departments from the people gathered there, the Governor Punjab directed the Wapda authorities to immediately change the old electricity meters in Jaranwala City, take action to remove electric wires passing above the houses in Mohallah Ahmed Park, ensure the provision of power connections for agricultural tube-wells on priority basis and launch an operation to eliminate power theft tendency in different areas.
The Governor directed the local officers of ZTBL to enhance the number of the provision of agricultural loans and extend maximum incentives and facilities to the women in connection with the provision of micro credit loans. During his visit to "Nadra Swift Center", the Governor Punjab, while taking consideration of peoples' problems, directed Regional Director Nadra Colonel Iqbal, that he should start an extensive mobile service besides setting up two more swift centers at Khurrian-wala and Jaranwala keeping in view the population of Tehsil Jaranwala.
Listening to the public complaints at PTCL office, he directed the concerned officers to extend the scope of Internet and telephone facilities to all the villages and backward areas.
He said by taking these steps, not only a common man would be able to utilise the benefits of the communication system but it would also result in enhancing the revenue. He said that for starting mobile phone service in Jaranwala, concerned organisations would be contacted so the PTCL should make efforts in that regard. Reviewing the facilities being extended to the public at Head Post Office Jaranwala, the Governor Punjab directed that emergent steps should be taken to provide "fax money order" and other facilities by utilising the latest technology in the communications sector.
On the demand of some pensioners, the Governor assured them that he would talk to the higher authorities for the issuance of welfare certificates and other saving schemes in the post offices.
He said that the provincial government would be moved for setting up more colleges in Jaranwala so that the educational requirements of the area could be fulfilled in a proper manner.
On the demand of the people, the Governor directed the District Nazim to take immediate action for the provision of a suitable piece of land for the graveyard.
Later, the Governor Punjab inaugurated the project for the provision of Sui gas in Kaleem Shaheed Park near Ghulam Muhammadabad, Faisalabad.
