Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has called upon the government to set up a polytechnic institute in Rawalpindi to provide people of the city an opportunity to receive a skill-oriented training.
This was stated by Hussain Ahmed Ozgen, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here on Tuesday while talking to the representatives of the different traders associations and unions of the Rawalpindi region.
Senior vice-president Jawed Bhatti, vice-president Fazalur Rehman and former president Osman Khalid Waheed were also present on this occasion.
Expressing his views Hussain Ahmed Ozgen said that the chamber has made all-out efforts to resolve the problems of the business community of the area beside promotion of trade and commerce activities in the region at all levels and forums.
Chamber, he said has rightly achieved its targets by the strong support and co-operation of the business community.
"The main aim of the chamber is to set up industries and promote trade and commerce in the region," he said and added for this reason, the RCCI has established its industrial estate near Rawat, which is only 15 kilometers away from Rawalpindi and the Federal capital, as the chamber considered this region as a hub for trade to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs).
SMALL SCALE UNITS: The RCCI chief noted that the chamber always tried to encourage small-scale industries. These industries, he said would change the socio-economic scenario of the area by changing the living standard of the masses.
"As a result of lack of technical institutions, Rawalpindi has failed to produce technically trained people," he said, adding, "it is the need of the hour to set up a polytechnic institute in the region so that this area could produce technically skilled people.
He stressed on the businessmen to play their due role to make the chamber as an effective and active organisation for the business community. He assured full support to trade representatives for the solution of their problems.
