MADRID: Victor Sanchez del Amo has been fired as coach of Deportivo la Coruna, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The 40-year-old extended his contract through to 2017 earlier this year, but paid the price for Depor's poor form in the second half of the season in La Liga.
The Galician club failed to build on their good form in the first half of the campaign and have won only twice in the league in 2016, only narrowly avoiding relegation.
A former player for the club, he took charge at Riazor towards the end of the 2014/15 season and kept Deportivo up, achieving finishes of 16th and then 15th in La Liga.
