PESHAWAR: The speakers at a two-day policy dialogue, on Wednesday unanimously endorsed China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and advised Pakistan to take full advantage of the project.
The speakers of "Energy Policy Dialogue in context with China Pakistan Economic Corridor" the center will be a game changer in finding solutions to energy challenges through CPEC, adding that the center and federating units should have to frame policies for sustainable solutions for the energy crisis.
The two policy dialogue was organized by US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, (USPCAS E) University of Engineering and Technology, (UET) Peshawar was concluded here.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak who was chief guest on the occasion said that the Government of KP fully supports CPEC and told that several deliberations were held with the federation to agree upon the share of KP province under CPEC.
He expressed resolve of KP government to solve the persistent energy crisis and urged the participants to explore current challenges and enable academia, industry and government to come find solutions for the energy crisis.
The objective of this dialogue was to deliberate on challenges and opportunities in CPEC for alternative energy solutions, preparation of industries for energy efficient solutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa offered by CPEC and to explore developing Public Private Partnerships.
The Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak, appreciated the efforts of USPCAS-E UET Peshawar and USAID to organize policy level dialogues in the field of energy. He informed the audience about the prospects of CPEC, the provincial government's policy and interaction with the federal government.
Among prominent speakers included Senator Usman Saifullah, Senator RukhsanaZuberi, Dr. Adeem Khan, Member Pakistan Custom services and others.
Vice chancellor UET Peshawar Dr. Iftikhar Hussain said that this event was organized at the opportune time where various stakeholders of CPEC were gathered to deliberate on policy issues.
He lauded the efforts of USPCAS-EUET Peshawar as a USAID-funded initiative that brings together UET Peshawar, National University of Science and Technology (NUST), and Arizona State University USA to find sustainable solutions to Pakistan's energy related challenges.
USPCAS-E is helping to resolve Pakistan's energy crises through applied research and developing specialized human resource.
"This support from USAID to hold dialogues in the field of energy will enhance students' capabilities and put them in the leadership roles in the energy sector," adding, with Government of KP's support, the center will be a game changer in finding solutions to energy challenges.
