imageRAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Saturday said by promoting education Pakistan could become a vibrant country.

Addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony at Latif Foundation School in Rawat, he said education was imperative for the country's progress and advised the students to put into all their capabilities in that regard.

He said the country was facing problems of terrorism, unemployment and law and order. The government, he said, was making all-out efforts for the elimination of terrorism. The operation Zarb-e-Azb had brought peace in the country, he added.

The Governor said power load-shedding would end in the country by 2018 due to timely completion of power generation projects. He said,"We are united under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif."

He congratulated the outstanding students who got positions. He praised Latif Foundation as it was playing an important role in promotion of education and urged the philanthropists to come forward and work for the destitute and poor segments of the society.

The Governor announced a sum of Rs 650,000 for the Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Senator Saleem Zia lauded the Pak Army for restoring peace in Karachi.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Dr. Jamal Nasir , Illyas Latif, parents, notables of the area and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

Earlier, Latif Foundation Chairman Ishtiaq Latif shed light on the working of the institution and said that hundreds of students studying at it, were also being provided free boarding and lodging.
