LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) on Monday decided to hold assembly of its staffers in their respective offices daily at 8:30 am.
Keeping in view the death of the line staff during the duty, the LESCO Chief Executive Officer Qaisar Zaman arranged a Safety Seminar on emergent basis here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
At the seminar, LESCO Chief in consultation with the Company's top officers-General Manager Chaudhry Anwar, Director (Operation) Asadullah Khan, Director (HR) Aziya Shuaib, Chief Engineer (Operation-South) Mian Aleem, Chief Engineer (Operation-North) Mohsin Raza and Chief Engineer (Development) Asghar Raza took important decisions for ensuring safety of the line staff.
The decisions were also announced in the seminar and these would be come into force at once.
As per decisions of the LESCO, there would be an assembly of staffers in all the offices of Operations, Sub-Divisions, Camps and GSC, and verses would be recited from the Holy Quran on this occasion.
The presence of all the line staff would be ensured and they would also be given necessary advisories regarding their safety, while working on the power transmission lines.
It was also announced that any staffer found absent from assembly would be considered absent from that day official duty, and the staffers paying no heed to safety instruction would also be taken to task.
While, the respective XEN/SE and Chief Engineer would carry out surprise checking every week to confirm that assembly was being held regularly.
The LESCO Chief Qaisar Zaman issued special directives to all the SDOs (Operation) in this regard and tasked them to promote safety culture among the company's line staff.
The CEO also expressed the resolve to utilize all available resources to give an end to the unwanted incidents faced by the line staff.
He warned that officers and officials showing any laxity in this regard would face strict departmental action.
