imageThe Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have been launched by the company. The latest Galaxy S7 smartphones comes with upgraded components and the return of one popular feature.

According to LiveMint, the newest member to the Samsung Galaxy family features a 5.1-inch screen powered by its home made Exynos or Qualcomm processors, the other sibling 5.5-inch Edge shares the same glass and meal design, looking quite similar to the previous S6. However, with one added twist the introduction of a new technology ‘Dual Pixel’, as called by Samsung in the device rear camera.

According to Indian Express, the company says that the ‘Dual Pixel’ in S7 and S7 Edge, deliver sharp, and brighter pictures even in low-light. Additionally the camera would have a faster shutter speed, and a more accurate auto-focus, even in low-light conditions.

Samsung has also brought back its memory-card slot and had prolonged the life of its batteries after the absence of a removable power unit didn’t sit well with customers last year.

The Galaxy S7 has a 3,000 mAh battery and supports fast-charging along with wireless charging, while its big brother Edge hones a 3600 mAh power source.

“A very important aspect of using your phone throughout the whole day is the battery and the performance,” said Jean-Daniel Ayme, vice president of European telecom operations at Samsung. “This phone is more powerful than any phone we have launched in the past, but it also has optimized software that will reduce the battery drain, and we have managed to put a larger battery in a smaller package.”

imageThe Galaxy S7 series features a ‘Dual Pixel’ 12 mega-pixel rear camera and a 5 mega-pixel front camera, with F1.7 aperture and Smart OIS feature. Whereas, the new Galaxy S7 Edge shares the same specs, except for a bigger 5.7-inch display. It also features the dual-edge screen seen in the previous series.

Samsung’s moves to win back customers from Apple and Chinese vendors, by fixing its shortcomings after the S6 failed to meet the expectations.

“The market for the smartphone is obviously slowing down a little bit,” Ayme said. It is “still growing,” he said, “but there is much more than just a phone that you’re holding in your hands. When you’re using one of these new devices, this is more than a phone, this is your camera, your MP3 player, your TV, your recorder, it’s everything and more, and more is coming.”

The South Korean tech giant says the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be available starting mid-March, this year.
