MILAN: Italy did not ask China to help it calm troubled markets by buying up Italian bonds but has been involved in talks on possible investments in the industrial sector, the finance ministry said.

"We have not asked China for any aid in particular. Demand for state-issued bonds remains good," junior finance minister Antonio Gentile told journalists.
