SANGHAR: Polling is underway for local bodies elections in Sanghar district of Sindh province and as many as 715,818 voters exercising their right to elect their representatives.
Voting is taking place in as many as 692 polling stations of Sanghar district. As many as 330 polling stations in Sanghar district have been declared highly sensitive while 227 polling stations have been declared sensitive.
The voting process could not begin at some polling stations at the scheduled time because late arrival of polling staff there.
Voters would elect their representatives for a District Council, three Municipal Committees, 10 Town Committees and 68 Union Councils.
For the district's 430 local seats, as many as 1650 candidates are in the field.
The government has deployed 7000 policemen in Sanghar district and a thousand Rangers personnel for security during the polls apart from Pakistan Army soldiers.
