imageISLAMABAD: A number of Korean companies working on various projects including Hydel ones and Lowari Tunnel showed keen interest to invest more in Pakistan.

Ambassador of The Republic of Korea, Dr Song Jong-hwan said this while addressing a reception hosted by the Pak-Korea Friendship Forum.

The Ambassador highlighted the importance of bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Korea and expressed his resolve to enhance existing cooperation to the maximum level in the coming years.

Speaking about Pak-Korea economic relations, the Ambassador said that both the countries were enjoying excellent bilateral trade and economic relations and hoped these would be further strengthened in the times to come.

About future of Pak-Korea economic relations, the Ambassador said that Korean companies were working in different sectors in Pakistan like health, agriculture, infrastructure and development and cooperation in all the fields woud be further enhanced between the two countries.

Regarding current trade volume between the two countries, he said it was more than One billion US dollars and both the countries had potential to increase it manifold in future.

The Ambassador said that during the visit of Prime Minister of Korea to Pakistan a number of agreements and MoUs were signed between the two countries.

The ambassador also called upon the members of the Chambers of Commerece of Pakistan to play their importent role for enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Talking about Pak-korea Free Trade Agreement, the ambassador said that signing of Free Trade agreement between the two countries would bring a revolution in the field of trade and economic relations.

Giving an example of economic cooperation between the two countries, the ambassador said that a Korean company had constructed Islamabad-Lahore Motorway which was a symbol of economic cooperation and friendship between Pakistan and Korea.

This is beyond doubt that every Pakistani recalls Korean company namely Dawoo whenever they make a journey on Motorway from Islamabad to Lahore, Ambassador Dr Song mentioned.

One of the leading Korean Companies Dawoo company had also launched a transport service in Pakistan besides making investment in other projects, the ambassador said.

Regarding role of Pakistan in the comity of the nations, the ambassador said that Pakistan always supported The Republic of Korea at International Fora and lauded the stance of the Pakistani government for condemning the recently conducted tests of Hydrogen Bomb by North Korea.

The Ambassador said that the government and the entire Korean nation was grateful to Pakistan for taking a clear stance against the test of Hydrogen Bomb by North Korea as it was not only dangerous for The Republic of Korea but also for the entire region as well.
