imageRAWALPINDI: The District Administration has prepared a comprehensive security plan to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.

Briefing media here Wednesday, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Zahid Saeed said that all important measures have been taken to avoid any untoward incident along the procession routes during the month particularly on 9th and 10th of Muhrram ul Harram.

Some 10,000 to 15000 policemen including Rangers and Army personnel would perform duties in different areas of the district to ensure security in and around Imambargahs and routes of the processions.

He said that code of conduct issued by the local administration would be strictly followed, adding that action would be taken against the violators according to the law.

He said that wall chalking, hate speech, publishing of objectionable material would be prohibited during the holy month.

Religious scholars, Ulema and Zakirs would promote harmony and avoid delivering hate speeches during the month.

Special arrangements with detecting devices, walkthrough gates and physical checking would be ensured at entry and exit points to avoid any mishap.

Regional Police Officer (RPO), Fakhar Sultan speaking on the occasion appealed the people to inform the duty officer about any suspicious activity in their area so that quick action could be taken against such elements.

He said the district administration, 10 Corps are coordinating all security arrangements to ensure peaceful processions on the traditional routes of the Zuljinnah.
