imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast widespread thunderstorm rain with heavy to very heavy falls at scattered places from September 20 to 24 (Sunday to Thursday).

"Extremely heavy falls at isolated places is expected over the lower and upper catchments of rivers Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum", said an flood advisory issued here on Thursday.

It said exceptionally high flood situation is expected in rivers Chenab and Jhelum from Monday to Friday ( Sept 21 to 25) in next week.

Flood situation in river Sutlej and Ravi will depend on the releases from Indian reservoirs. Exceptionally high flood situation is also expected in the Nullahs of rivers Ravi and Chenab during the same period.

The office advised all concerned departments to do necessary precautionary measures for avoiding any loss of lives and damage to public as well as property.

Regarding next 24 hours, it forecast mainly hot and dry weather in most parts of the country with rain-thunderstorm at a few places in Malakand division, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

A weak seasonal low lies over North Baluchistan and its adjoining areas. A shallow westerly wave is still affecting northern parts of the country and its adjoining areas.

In last 24 hours weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country while rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Lahore, Malakand divisions and upper FATA.

Rainfall recorded during this time span was Lahore (A/P) 31mm, Parachinar 31mm, Dir 02mm, Kalam 01mm and trace at Gilgit, Sialkot (A/P) and Skardu.

Highest temperatures for last 24 hours was Turbat 45?C, Sibbi, Noorpur Thal 42?C, Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Sukkur, Kot Addu, R.Y.Khan 41?C, Islamabad 35?C, Lahore 36?C, Karachi 36?C, Peshawar 36?C, Quetta 34?C, Gilgit 29?C, Hunza 23?C ,Muzaffarabad 34?C, Murree 24?C, Skardu 26?C, Faisalabad 37?C, Multan 39?C, Hyderabad 36?C, Kalat 26?C.

Pollen count was 71 per m3 of air during this duration.
