ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Mohammad Ishaq Dar and acting Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique HI(M) Monday discussed the broad targets of naval forces under the Armed Forces Development Plan (AFDP) and their budgetary requirements in the next three years.
The acting naval chief, who called on the minister here, also discussed the urgent needs of the naval forces in the current financial year, said a ministry press release.
The naval chief praised the government's efforts for the uplift of economy and its sagacity in bringing all parties together in the nation's fight against terrorism.
The minister thanked Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique for his well wishes and said the government was ready to extend every kind of cooperation to the defence forces as it acknowledged their sacrifices for the safety of the country.
He also assured the naval chief that if there was a need, the government would not hesitate to help the naval force through a budgetary support.
The naval chief also requested the finance minister to take up the financing issue of different defence related equipment.
The minister asked the naval chief to send a working paper to the Economic Affairs Division which had been directed to negotiate with Chinese authorities on different issues.
The minister directed that a complete picture of AFDP may be presented in consultation with the Joint Staff Head Quarters to assess the budgetary requirements over the next three years.
