italian-stock-marketMILAN: Italian stocks opened 2.79 percent higher at 15,073 points on Thursday, a day after crashing 6.65 percent amid fresh investor nerves about the eurozone debt crisis.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Wednesday said the government would adopt new austerity measures next week to cut the deficit to produce a balanced budget by 2013 in line with demands from the European Central Bank.
