imageAllan Border, Australia’s winning captain of World Cup 1987 feels that Australia should grasp the opportunity of playing in their homeland instead of worrying about the expectations.

According to foreign media reports Border said, “Everyone’s talking about playing at home, that it’s a very difficult situation, the extra pressure and expectation. My advice would be to really go out of your way to embrace the fact you’re playing at home in front of your own crowd.”

He thinks that having crowded in your side will really help Australia to stable the situation. So, Aussies should not be worried about the people’s expectation but they should take this opportunity as a challenge.

1992 was the last time when Australia hosted the World Cup and they lost it. Border calls it the result of the poor preparation rather than the loads of expectations.

He said, “I put it down to poor preparation. We’d been playing Test match cricket up until two weeks before the tournament. There’s no real lack of preparation going into this tournament for the Aussies. This Australian side, they’ve been up to those challenges over the last couple of years and returned some great performances,” foreign media reported.

Border has advised Australian players not to worry about the fact, that people call it an advantage playing in your own country and expect more. But take it like you are playing in front of your own people who will cheer you up.
