imageISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has set up four Model Addiction treatment and Rehabilitation Centres in various areas of the country for providing free treatment to drug addicts.

Talking to APP on Monday, an official of the Interior Ministry said that a 45 bedded MATR Centre was established at Lehtrar Islamabad. The centre has the capacity to treat 360 drug addicts.

A 55 bedded MART Centre having capacity to treat to 440 drug addicts per year is situated at Kalri (Lyari), Karachi. The centre is working with a capacity to provide free of cost medical treatment and rehabilitation, he said.

Replying to question, he said a 10 bedded detoxification ward has been set up in Adiala Jail Hospital at Rawalpindi under the supervision of MART Centre Islamabad to provide detoxification facility to drug addict.

He said a 45 bedded MART Centre was established in Quetta. This centre is providing free of cost medical treatment and rehabilitation to facilitate 360 drug addicts per year.

Responding to a question, he said MATR Centre is public property, land building has been donated by Sindh government and different donors including United Nations Agency.
