KMC suspends 12 ghost employees including four doctors

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday suspended 12 ghost employees, including four doctors and eight others, mainly paramedics, presumably serving at KMC Hospital, Gazdarabad, an old area locality of Karachi.

Director, Medical and Health Services, KMC, Dr. Salma Kauser, talking to APP said that in response to public complaints about non availability of doctors as well as paramedics and other lower cadre employees, she was directed by KMC Administrator, Rauf Akhter Farooqui, to keep strict vigil and also make surprise visits to the facility.

Necessary and extremely carefully conducted enquiry showed that there were no less than four doctors on pay roll of the hospital but had never attended their duties, said KMC Medical and Health Services Director.

She said there were also eight other employees of lower cadre who had never been to the hospital but were regularly drawing salary against positions they did not deliver for.
