imageISLAMABAD: Former pace bowler Mohammad Zahid wants Misbah-ul-Haq to lead from the front like Imran Khan did in the 1992 World Cup by batting at number 3 saying this way he can guide the team and his batting unit in a better way.

Zahid said during the 1992 World Cup Imran led the team from the front by batting at the number 3. "Misbah should also lead from the front by batting at number three during the 2015 World Cup and show his team mates how it should be done. I don't want him at number five or coming in at number four. He should come in at 3 and guide the team and his batting unit," Pakpassion.net quoted him as saying.

Zahid said our bowling resources aren't what they used to be and our batsmen if faced with a target of 220 or more will struggle on the wickets in New Zealand and Australia. "It is going to take a lot of luck and a super effort from the players to do what Pakistan did in 1992," he said.

Speaking about Saeed Ajmal's ban, Zahid said he has played against Saeed many times and he is surprised that suddenly the authorities have decided that his bowling action is illegal. "Saeed has been around for many years, where were the authorities when he was playing for so long," he said.

Zahid questioned is Saeed's bowling action worse than Murali's? "Of course it isn't and that's what makes this whole situation so ridiculous. However if Saeed does come back I don't think he will be the same bowler. If you have been bowling with the same action for twenty or more years, then to suddenly have to change it that is difficult," he said.

Talking about the ongoing Pak-Australia Test Series, Zahid said he feels Pakistan spinners can hurt Australia. "If you compare the spinners on both teams I feel Pakistan's options are better, but Pakistan's spinners need their batting colleagues to put the runs on the board," he said.
