imageISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan on Tuesday informed the Senate that currently there was complete ban on fresh recruitments adding that once ban lifted the vacant posts in various departments would be filled in transparent manner as per the law and regulation.

Replying to various supplementary question during Question Hour, the minister said that employees of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has been decreased to 13,528 from 15,598 in 2013.

To another supplementary query, the minister said that the NBP suffered Rs.9 billion loss in Bangladesh during fiscal years 2006-2008.

He said the personal involved in this huge loss has acquired Bangladesh nationality. A team would be sent to Bangladesh to prosecute the person involved in the scam, he added.

The minister said that presently no godown staff was on NBP payroll adding that no such staff was terminated during the year 2012-13. The Bank had signed contract with a private company Muqadam for providing godown services, he added.

The minister said that currently Pakistan Steel Mills was not included in the privatization list.

He said that 85 cases of gazetted officer of National Assembly Secretariat have been received in AGPR office since March 2014 for issuance of slips. However, out of total, only seven cases were finalized and pay slips were issued to officers concerned so far, he added.

He said that 75 cases were returned to the NA secretariat for providing necessary documents, he said.

Khurram said that loan agreements of $ 12,915.95 million were signed with foreign countries including China, Japan and Saudi Arabia and International Financial Institutions (ADB, World Bank, IDB, EIB etc.).

Similarly, bonds of $ 2,000 million were issued from June 2013 to June 2014, he said and added that these loans were obtained for budgetary support, import of commodities and financing the projects of national importance.

He said that Pakistan entered into the extended fund facility for $ 6.64 billion with IMF in September 2013 and received $ 2.2 billion so far under the programme.
