imageISLAMABAD: Former leggie-star Abdul Qadir feels Saeed Ajmal would get out clean from the ICC relating to suspected illegal bowling action saying the off-spinner was also reported in 2009 while delivering his doosra but was later cleared.

The ICC had said the Ajmal must undergo testing within 21 days. Ajmal was reported after Pakistan's seven-wicket loss in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle on Sunday. Ajmal could be tested at the Cardiff Metropolitan University, which has recently been accredited as an official testing laboratory for bowling actions by the ICC.

Talking to APP, Abdul Qadir, who had appeared in 67 Tests and 104 ODIs between 1977 and 1993, said the International Cricket Council (ICC) should ease the bowling action rules for spinners.

"Ajmal is the No1-ranked bowler in international cricket and has taken 174 Test wickets and 182 wickets in 110 ODIs since he made his international debut in 2008," he said adding this news has surprised him.

However Qadir, who is widely regarded as the top spin bowler of his generation, advised the ICC and the member boards to check the illegal bowling actions of the bowlers when they are playing first class cricket. "If the board sees any players bowling an illegal action then they should not let that player play further," he said.

Qadir said this way no illegal actions will be there to report in international cricket.

Speaking about the bounced cheque worth of Rs 400,000 that was presented by the Pakistan cricketers and team management to the IDPs (Internally Displaced People) of North Waziristan, Qadir said it is really a disgrace that such an amount of cheque has been bounced. The cheque was bounced because this much amount was not present in the account.

"Government, People etc have been donating plentiful to these displaced people and the cricketers presented them with a cheque of Rs 400,000 and that also gets bounced," he said.

Qadir said the cricketers earn millions of rupees and such an action by them is really condemnable. "I plea to the whole nation and also to the people who are living abroad to donate as much as they can to help these IDPs," he said.
