SOUTHAMPTON: India were 112 for four, needing a further 333 runs to reach what would be a record victory total of 445, at stumps on the fourth day of the third Test against England at Southampton on Wednesday.
Ajinkya Rahane was 18 not out and Rohit Sharma six not out.
The most any side have made in the fourth innings to win a Test is the 418 for seven the West Indies posted against Australia at St John's, Antigua, in 2002/03.
India lead the five-match series 1-0 after their 95-run win in the second Test at Lord's.
