ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has accelerated disbursement of cash assistance among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency .
Talking to Radio Pakistan, Director FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Farman Khilji said that 109 million rupees were disbursed among the IDPs during the last twenty four hours.
He said a total cash assistance of Rs 262.2 million has so far been given to the IDPs, registered at Saidgai Check Post located in Frontier Region Bannu.
The authority has now started disbursement of cash assistance among IDPs in Bannu, Kurram Agency and Peshawar, he added.
To a question, he said that Pak Army in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates distributed two hundred tons food items among one thousand five hundred families.
United Nations Development Programme has established a new office in Peshawar to provide assistance to IDPs, he added.
He said the new office will also provide assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government in ongoing development projects in the province.
