trevor-baylissSYDNEY: Former Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss has been appointed the head coach of Australian Twenty20 team Sydney Sixers for the next two seasons, officials said on Thursday.

Bayliss, who was in charge of the Sri Lankans during their loss to India in April's World Cup final, was head coach of New South Wales until 2005.

Under Bayliss, NSW won the 2004-05 Sheffield Shield as well as a domestic one-day trophy.

"Trevor is a high quality coach with a huge amount of success domestically and internationally," Sydney Sixers general manager Stuart Clark said.

"His ability and respect amongst the playing group provides the foundation to have a successful winning culture."
