imageMULTAN: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bossan said that he would take the wheat support price in Sindh and other provinces in the Council of Common Interest.

Talking to the media here, the federal minister said there was a difference in the support price of wheat in Sindh and Punjab. "The support price of wheat is usually announced in October or November during the sowing season of wheat. However, the Sindh government has announced the support price during the on-going harvesting season, contrary to the past practice," he added.

About wheat procurement prices, Haji Sikandar Bossan stated that PASSCO had completed all arrangements for meeting the target. He said he had paid visits to different cities to check arrangements for wheat procurement.

To a query about rising costs of production and a low support price, he said the government had taken measures to reduce the cost of production of wheat. He added that lowering of oil prices and fixation of electricity prices for tubewells were special measures to facilitate farmers.
