imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday directed Sindh police to launch aggressive operation against the dacoits involved in kidnapping for ransom in other districts of the province along with Karachi.

He ordered to arrest also those who are patronizing the dacoits.

The Chief Minister was chairing a meeting on law and order here at the Chief Minister House, said an official statement.

The Chief Minister directed Sindh police and Rangers, and other law enforcing agencies to expedite the targeted operation against the terrorists and ensure vigilance of all sensitive public places including markets, institutions and religious places in the city.

He asked the LEAs for enhancing intelligence network to find hideouts of the criminals and strike on them before they target the innocent people. Taking serious notice of kidnapping cases in other areas of the province besides Karachi reported in the press, the Chief Minister directed Sindh Inspector General of Police to immediately launch vigorous operation against the dacoits and their patrons and keep the province clean from these elements.

He also took briefing about the progress of the investigation in the case of attack on the Geo Tv Anchor person Hamid Mir and asked the officials to be helpful to the Judicial Commission already announced to prove this incident.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that he had taken many important decisions to strengthen Sindh police including providing Rupees five billion for the purchase of latest arms , equipment, bullet proof vehicles, vastes, helmets, APVs alarm detecting equipment. But, he noted, the police still not has procured these things and is following the procedure we had already adopted to examine these.

He ordered the authorities concerned to procure the arms and other things in question within a period of one month.

He said that after getting such latest vehicles and equipment, the police force would be in position to chase and fight the terrorists.

The Chief Minister also directed the police and intelligence agencies to identify the culprits and their groups involved in the recent bomb blast in the city. IGP Sindh Iqbal Mehmood and Additional IGP Shahid Hayat informed the meeting that 35 % decline in the murder cases and 66 % drop in target killing during the targeted operation has been reported.
