LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Saturday said that the government took tough decisions for setting economy on the right path during initial six months, which have started yielding positive results.
He was talking to MNAs and MPAs of various districts here. Assembly members apprised the chief minister about progress of development works in their respective constituencies.
The chief minister expressed hope that the PML-N government will steer the country out of quagmire and put it on the road to progress and prosperity.
He said glorious example of good governance had been set up by promoting merit and transparency in the province.
While mentioning the decrease in prices of essential items, the chief minister said due to cooperation of assembly members, government efforts and concrete measures, the prices of daily use items have reduced considerably and relief had been provided to people.
He said "We have to march forward with the same spirit of service in future as well and take further steps for providing relief to the masses."
The chief minister said special attention was being paid to the provision of potable water for protecting the people from diseases and a huge amount of Rs 10 billion had been allocated for installation of filtration plants.
He said elimination of energy crisis was a big challenge. Shahbaz Sharif said that former rulers did not pay any attention to overcoming energy problem during their tenure. However, he said, PML(N) government was taking steps on war-footing to end energy crisis.
