KARACHI: Poor bowling changes and inclusion of an extra pace bowler in Pakistan team cost them the second One-Day International in Dubai, former Test fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said on Saturday.
"Misbah did not made the right bowling changes in the crucial stage of the match specially in last six overs of the match," he said while commenting on Pakistan's two wickets to loss to Sri Lanka which leveled the 5-match ODI series 1-1.
"I think Junaid and Saeed Ajmal should have been used in the last few overs," he said.
"In the pressure situation in the last few overs, Misbah should have got the support from the dressing room which is traditional done through messages," he said.
He called for dropping one of the fast bowlers from Sohail Tanvir or Bilal Bhatti.
He suggested the inclusion of left arm spinner Abdul Rehman in place one fast bowler.
Rawalpindi-express said left arm paceman Junaid Khan really bowled well.
However he said using two left arm pacer not a wise decision which means dropping of Sohail Tanvir.
"Sohail is good for T20 cricket but not good enough for ODIs and his performance proved it," he added. Sohail took one 69 of ten overs in the first ODI and conceded 58 runs in his nine over in the second without taking any wickety.
He said even in the first ODI Pakistan pacers proved expensive conceded 161 runs between them which was not up to the mark.
He said it was good sign to see Pakistan batting doing well and top order batting performing well. But Pakistan still to rectify in some areas of the game.
