LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday stayed Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) from issuing certificate to Indian movies on forged documents.
Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan passed the orders on a petition filed by Mubashir Lucman, an anchor person, against illegal exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan.
The court also sought reply from Secretary Interior, CBFC and Federal Board of Revenue by November 25.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted before the court that Indian Movies could not be allowed to exhibit in Pakistan as per law.
He submitted that Motion Picture Ordinance 1979 and martial law order 81, which was given full validation through 8th Amendment, bar exhibition of Indian origin films.
However, forged documents are being produced by importers of Indian films to get the censor certificate, he added.
He pleaded the court to bar CBFC from issuing certificates to films on the basis of forged documents.
The court after hearing the arguments stayed CBFC from issuing certificates to Indian movies on basis of forged documents and also sought reply from the respondents.
