ISLAMABAD: The Local bodies elections in Balochistan will be held on December 7, Secretary Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmed Khan said on Thursday.
Talking to mediapersons he said, the schedule for local bodies elections in the Punjab and Sindh would be announced on completion of the ongoing delimitation process.
The Secretary said the schedule for local bodies elections in the Punjab and Sindh will be announced on completion of delimitations, while the schedule for holding LB polls Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Islamabad on finalization of prerequisites.
He said that delimitation process in Sind would be completed by November 13 while in Punjab it will completed by November 7.
He said that local bodies election was a very big exercise in the country and five hundred millions ballot papers would be printed. The ECP has issued directives for this purpose, he added.
He said that according to Printing Press of Pakistan four months are required for printing of ballot papers.
The Secretary informed that all these recommendation would be presented before the Supreme Court, and in light of SC orders the date for election in Punjab and Sindh would be announced.
To another question, Ishtiak Ahamd Khan said only the magnetized ink will be used during the elections.
He said that Election Commission will ensure fairness and transparency in the exercise.
He said that all executive authorities in the Federation and provinces shall not use state resources in local government elections.
He said that district and sessions judges would be appellant authorities.
