KARACHI: The newly-appointed Pope Francis, formerly known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, stumbled on stairs when one of his shoes became tangled in his long white robe as he was preparing to greet cardinals in Sala Clementina, at the Vatican.
76-year-old Francis quickly regained his movement and managed to share a laugh with Cardinal Sodano before continuing. Even his slightest stumble was highlighted extensively by media outlets throughout the globe.
Pope Francis, who is also well-known for his down to earth and humble traits, recently paid his own hotel bill and picked up his own luggage at a Vatican hotel. He also personally thanked each member of staff who had served him. He even adopts a more humble approach towards papal duties because he is more concerned about setting a good example of what priests and bishops should do and how they should act.
The Argentinean Pope also used to take the bus to work and rose to fame kissing the feet of AIDS patients.
